There’s a Speck in Your Eye

Standard

“Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. (Matthew 7:1-5 ESV)

Wow…. God just hit me with the hard truth. He shows our faults through scripture. And he definitely showed me mine tonight as I read a little bit of Matthew. This is a huge fault in all of us. Especially this day in age. We need to work on ourselves and our own faults and sins before judging others. We need to love on others and pray for their sins as well as our own.

“Bear fruit, in keeping with repentance” Matthew 3:8

Repentance… The 1828 Noah Webster’s Dictionary defines it as this:

“3. Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of his holy law, and the basest ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. This is called evangelical repentance, and is accompanied and followed by amendment of life.

Repentance is a change of mind, or a conversion from sin to God.

Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation. 2Cor. 7. Matt. 3.”

Saying you’re sorry to God means nothing if you don’t prove it. It’s like lying, so why bother asking Him for forgiveness if you don’t want to change? God wants you to show Him you’re sorry by the way you live your life, that is what true repentance is all about.

I know this entry was short, but it’s an obvious one. And I pray it helps each and every one of you. God Bless!
